Capital Area Team Sports conducted its first-ever flag football tournament over the weekend of August 11-12, 2007, debuting the Triangle Kickoff Classic, a preseason event aimed at providing new IFFL teams with the opportunity to learn more about how the league's games are played, and returning teams with an opportunity to evaluate players and get their teams into a competitive mindset before the season began.

The double-elimination event was held at Growney Field and was won by teh Gamblers, who surprised those in attendance by coming back from the loser's bracket and defeating the Gunslingers twice in the final round, 25-21 and 34-12, respectively, to win the championship along with a first prize of $504.00 in expense money.  The Gunslingers earned $216.00 in second place money for their efforts.

While specific details have yet to be ironed out, Capital Area Team Sports does plan to stage a 2nd Triangle Kickoff Classic in 2008.
