The Raleigh Red Devils were announced as our latest men's softball team on June 6, 2006 (6-6-06, appropriately), taking the field in their inaugural season the following spring under the direction of CATS President and former Carolina Colts catcher Tommy Rich.  The first season failed to produce many wins (the team went 2-15 overall, including a 1-14 regular season record), but as had been the case with the Colts our new club took root with a nucleus of quality players that would - and will - prove beneficial to the team in its future.

The team's first fall campaign served as a testament of the team's improvement on the field.  Not only did the club finish its second regular season with a record above .500 (7-5), but it also finished ahead of its sister club, the Carolina Colts, in the league standings.  This was in part due to the Red Devils defeating the Colts for the first time in their six regular season meetings near the conclusion of the season.

The second year of Raleigh Red Devil softball brings with it a new era, as manager Tommy Rich has stepped down as part of his preparations to relocate to Greenville, North Carolina this summer.  Now under the direction of long-time Colt John Teal, the team looks to continue the improvement of 2007, perhaps capturing Capital Area Team Sports' 9th men's softball championship in its second year.
