POSTSEASON QUALIFICATION INFORMATION
The teams with the four best regular season records will advance to the MLS playoffs. The third- and fourth-place teams will begin the postseason with a one game playoff. The winner of that contest will then advance to another one game playoff, against the second-place team. The survivor of that game will then advance to a best-of-three game MLS Championship Series against the league's regular season champion.
 
LEAGUE TIEBREAKER INFORMATION
If at the conclusion of the regular season, two or more teams have identical won-lost-tied percentages, the following steps shall be applied to determine their overall league standing:
(1) Head-to-Head record (won-lost-tied percentage in head to head meetings between the tied clubs).
(2) Run differential in head-to-head games (runs scored less runs allowed in head to head meetings between the tied clubs).
(3) Run differential in all games (runs scored less runs allowed).
(4) Fewest runs allowed in all games.
(5) Fewest runs allowed in final six games of regular season.
(6) Coin toss/random draw.
